DCP Creation, August 2011

This are improving in the DCP Creation field. Frauhoffer has revised their entry, easyDCP, while the open source and free OpenDCP has added subtitle and caption support. Media player manufacturers Qube and Doremi have both improved speed results of their top of the line versions, and their FCP plug-ins (for Compressor really) have also gotten revisions.

The meme of Real 3D and Transformed 3D being two anti-thetical processes, one being used by the true lords and masters, and the other a monetary rip-off perpetrated by evil beings, has been given a quality treatment in a Variety article Biz crosses blurry line on 'true 3D' - Entertainment News, Film News, Media.

Using "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" as a launching point, David Cohen sets the record straight as far as possible without going into excruciating detail, mentioning above all that Avatar was laced with after the shoot corrections and standard CGI work – which should be obvious to anyone who noticed that actual shooting ended for Avatar months before Cameron went back to the studios and insisted on more time.

You know, I kept seeing that 3D stuff, and seeing that 3D stuff, and never getting it. Then I saw the same clips with a great audio system, and what do you know...the pictures looked better. 

There is a right way to do this and a wrong. There is faster and there is more faster. There are security issues and return on investment issues. just isn't the same anymore.
